Why Can't America

Americans are one the most marketed to group of consumers on the planet. One place where one could find this theory preveliant is in our fashion industry. Yes! we have an influx of designers from every walk of life such as rappers and actors. Instead of make based industry, we have a named based industry. Where the designers play real designers to design clothing made in cheap Chinese factories. It took a few years but everyone is running to China to manufacture. We have killed of a once proud and great textile industry in America. An replace it with American made in China.

Now since every rapper is an actor/designer and actors are rappers/designer, I'm really confused about one thing that is which ones are actors and who are the rappers. One thing I'm certain about none of them are true artisan. I view this as a slap in the face to all the great Master tailors that America once claimed. The people responsible for creating the timeless classics that America one time produced. The garment you can still find in vintage or second hand shops. As a matter of fact I found a 25 year old oxxford flat front two button suit that I would put up against anything being mass produced today. Thank God Oxxford is still holding on! Now think about it are you going to want to buy a Steve Harvey suit or some J.Timberlake jeans in a vintage shop 25 years from now!

I guess I'm just to old school. Too old to believe that Tom Ford and Thom Browne are reinventing the wheel. They're are just using what was already there. Don't get me wrong I like these guys. At least they're bringing clothing back. This could be a great thing for America. Maybe we can cultivate some young talented person to become an Master Tailor and make garment where the tags says made in the USA. The rappers can go back to rapping and the actors to acting and America once again can glow with the knowledge that we make something not made in China. Why can't America?
