Why Can't America

Americans are one the most marketed to group of consumers on the planet. One place where one could find this theory preveliant is in our fashion industry. Yes! we have an influx of designers from every walk of life such as rappers and actors. Instead of make based industry, we have a named based industry. Where the designers play real designers to design clothing made in cheap Chinese factories. It took a few years but everyone is running to China to manufacture. We have killed of a once proud and great textile industry in America. An replace it with American made in China.

Now since every rapper is an actor/designer and actors are rappers/designer, I'm really confused about one thing that is which ones are actors and who are the rappers. One thing I'm certain about none of them are true artisan. I view this as a slap in the face to all the great Master tailors that America once claimed. The people responsible for creating the timeless classics that America one time produced. The garment you can still find in vintage or second hand shops. As a matter of fact I found a 25 year old oxxford flat front two button suit that I would put up against anything being mass produced today. Thank God Oxxford is still holding on! Now think about it are you going to want to buy a Steve Harvey suit or some J.Timberlake jeans in a vintage shop 25 years from now!

I guess I'm just to old school. Too old to believe that Tom Ford and Thom Browne are reinventing the wheel. They're are just using what was already there. Don't get me wrong I like these guys. At least they're bringing clothing back. This could be a great thing for America. Maybe we can cultivate some young talented person to become an Master Tailor and make garment where the tags says made in the USA. The rappers can go back to rapping and the actors to acting and America once again can glow with the knowledge that we make something not made in China. Why can't America?

Chicago number two to New York

Stroll downtown chicago on a Monday in October, one starts to ponder if Chitown even close to New York in fashion. Well the windy city name is serving her right, beause New York is blowing us off the map on the fashion scence. A city of this magnitude has to make more of a stance in fashion. So we fellow chicagians have to stake our claim. We have all the tools. just think about it, in our city we have one of the greatest suit making factories in the world. i'm speaking of oxxford. The best hand made suit in the world is made right here in Chicago. You ask people from Chitown and to my surprise many people who consider themselves well dressed have never heard of Oxxford. Is that the cities fault or the companies fault. I think the city culd do more to promote such a treasure.

Oxxford has been around for 85 plus years. They make the suits the same way they did from the start. A man or a women in front of a sewing table. The final product is a work of art. A suit that you can wear fro many years. The price is the best value for your money out of all the big boys such as Zegna and Armani. The fashion hounds really get behind these two computer and state of the art sewing machine. I doubt if a hand touches oone of these garment until put into a shipping box. in other words all machine made verses Oxxford's hand sewing artisans. The price of Armani and Zegna Rivals Oxxford. The only suits in the ball park as far as make would be kiton and brioni. I want even tell you price, but just incase you have to know they start at five grand. Oxxford a mere two grand for the best made garment in the world.

So Chicago we need to get behind this line and blow our horns to let the world know that we are the best and we have the best timeless class and fashion in the world.

Top Tailors In Chicago

Welcome to the Sartorial Guru, where those interested in sartorial splendor can come together and voice their view points on Men's Clothing, Each segment we plan to cover an area of gentlemans wear. We are excited and look forward to some great forums from the men and women that appreciate.

Now to the meat and the true meaning of this blog. I have lived in chicago for two years now. I see no reason why chicago should not be as known or publized for mens clothing. Fact! Chicago has two of the best known suit manufactures in the US and the world. (Oxxford, Hart Schafner Marx) One would argue that Chicago should be the leader in the men's tailored clothing arena. So this blog will let the world know that chicago.

This list below is a small list of tailors that I have found to be the best in Chicago.

1. Rocco, The talior for W. Now W is not the perfect model because need room for all his protection gear. Roco can be found at Oxxford Clothes.

2. Maria, This italian gem can be found in downtown Chicago. Everybody in a Tom James suit should personally thank Maria.

3. Micheal, sid Jeromes head tailor. Now iknow why Sid likes to sell off the rack, because Micheal makes rack look custom.
